Houston practices primarily in agricultural law dealing with land transactions, surface rights, farm corporations, estate administration, wills and helping farmers and ranchers make the most of their rollover and capital gains exemption.

Houston received a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Calgary in 2014 and a law degree with honours from the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2019. In 2020, he received his Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies Canada and he was called to the Alberta Bar in 2021.

Before earning his law degree, Houston worked as a legislative assistant in the Ottawa office of Alberta Senator Douglas Black Q.C., focusing on agricultural, energy and environmental issues. He also has previous experience working with farmers and ranchers from his employment at the farm equipment dealership, Trochu Motors Ltd.

Houston currently volunteers as the Treasurer of Alberta Young Speakers for Agriculture and is a member and sub-committee co-chair of the Calgary Stampede’s Agriculture and Western Events Media Committee. Houston grew up in Trochu, Alberta and in his spare time, he enjoys snowmobiling, traveling, and discussing politics.
